@skateebee if you recall, he said the brand of supplement was not important. He has his own line of vitamins because he has to make money some how, but he never mentions his brand in this video. I believe the health advice he gives here is fairly objective.
I used to to like Dr Weil until I figured out he has an agenda - he has his own line of vitamins, hence the constant recommendation to take daily supplements.
GREAT interview!!! Loved it…fascinating about the sockeye salmon, how it cannot be farmed…did not know that! But I’ve been receiving Dr. Weil’s e-mails every day now for a few years…he’s awesome! Very good questions…thank you!
KR you seem to be a very informed young man. I would like to hear your personal assessment of the interview. What exactly did you take away from this dialogue.
@crispedfuture Dr Weil is quite Scientific actually, he’s just open to new data even if it debunks the old. Sometimes he’s going on hypothesis but he generally tells people when he does that.
Well, no. My point is that sometimes ALL the evidence isn’t there. So we (I do this too, it’s human), make assumptions based on what we see - even if it’s completely wrong.
That’s why I keep a health journal. If I feel like crap, regardless on what the experts say, I simply don’t ingest it.
It also depends on WHO does the study. That explains why in the same week, coffee is both good for us and bad for us. There’s also the fact that what’s good for one could be bad for another.
Really surprised Kevin didn’t chime in when Dr. Weil was mentioning matcha tea. It shows he’s a good interviewer that stays on topic and leaves the talking to the interviewee.
It’s also interesting that “evidence based” experts also condemned ALL fat. Now “evidence based” experts say that some fat is good. I could go on and on on how many “evidence based” claims were made and how many of these “evidence based” claims were rejected by other “evidence based” claims, but 500 characters isn’t enough to do so.
Take everything you read and hear with “a grain of salt”. If it’s “evidence based” it could be just based on what little evidence is there at the time.
Thank you Kevin. That was a very informative and positive interview. I once believed that the FDA protected us from the hazards of the food industry, but its come to my attention that we should all be more educated on diet and fitness in general. I used to think the Europeans where a little nutty with their stance on food, but now realize we all have to be more responsible for what we put into our bodies. After all, what is more important that your own well being?
I like how he always used the Japanese as a comparison to our diets xD

…and he has. Nice.
I wonder if he has looked into the use of hemp oil.

@crispedfuture Good for you.
His advice is not scientific and he provides limited data. I’ve heard 80%+ of what he’s said. Not impressed.
His beard is awesome.
Looking forward to reading his books.
Great interview
Those were some great questions I learned alot.
Thanks
Andrew Weil really inspired me. He has done so much.

They changed their mind BECAUSE OF NEW EVIDENCE. Duh.
Are you honestly criticizing EVIDENCE???

the white balance between the 5D and the other camera are inconsistent in this video, as well as the most recent ‘Random’
